“Great ride and friendly staff...”

Flew in from South Florida to visit a friend in Phoenix. Found this place on the internet while searching for things to do. Called them up to make a reservation for a late afternoon ride but got an answering machine. My call was returned within 30 minutes. Spoke to a friendly person named Danny. He recommended the t-bone dinner ride which starts at 5:30pm. I arrived around 5:15pm. The location and numerous horses looked well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Two people were running late and Danny said we were waiting for them before leaving. Started riding about 5:45pm. The 'walking pace' ride thru the mountain trail was scenic and pretty dusty in some places. It also had alot of elevation changes which made it very interesting for me and a little challenging for 'Stubbs', my horse. Arrived at the restaurant about 1 hour and 15 minutes later. The staff here was also friendly and the service was excellent. The 10 ounce, aged top sirloin was absolutely delicious. There was no rush to finish dinner. It was a relaxed atmosphere. The ride back under the moonlit sky gave us some awesome views of Phoenix at night. We initially started on the same path but then diverted to a different one that was not as difficult for the horses and was more a straight shot back to the starting point. The only minor ding to the whole experience was at the end. Once you got off the horse, there was no typical "we hope you all had a great time, please come back soon". There was nothing. Everyone quietly got off their horse, walked to their cars and left with no further exchange of words with the staff. It was just a slight bit odd, that's all. I stood there for a minute or so thinking "Is that it, do we just leave?". Not a big deal. I still highly recommend this place. If you're in Phoenix, make some time to come here. You'll love it.

I've taken both the sunset tour and the ponderosa tour. Before then I had never ridden an horse in my life. I absolutely loved it. The staff is both friendly and knowledgeable about the horses. My favorite horse is named Dakota. The restaurant on the ponderosa tour have excellent cuts of steaks and the prices are very reasonable. This was a great adventure riding the horses thought South Mountain!
